TORONTO — On December 26, Qurba Academy launched its programs for 2009 at the Reviving the Islamic Spirit Conference in Toronto, Canada.
Qurba Academy showcased two upcoming seminars with Imam Zaid Shakir of Zaytuna Institute: Treatise for the Seekers of Guidance on February 13-15, 2009 and Islam, Marriage and Family: Seven Secrets to a Happy Marriage on February 15-16, 2009.
Imam Shakir visited the booth to speak about the importance of Qurba Academy’s role in the community, giving encouraging advice to hundreds of listeners.
“People are really excited about Qurba Academy and the Imam Zaid events,” said Hammad Din (Project Manager, Qurba). “We have had dozens of sign-ups already and we’re expecting to sell-out.”
Qurba Academy is planning on showcasing its new curriculum titled The Essentials Program at the two February events.
Treatise for the Seekers of Guidance is a book written by Imam Harith al-Muhasibi and translated by Imam Zaid Shakir, who will be teaching from the book at the course. Students will gain the tools necessary to become people of true integrity, have an impact on the moral psychology of the Muslim community, and be agents of positive change. They will also contextualize the Islamic guidance on spirituality with the social milieu of our times.
Islam, Marriage and Family: Seven Secrets to a Happy Marriage is a program developed by Imam Zaid Shakir on how to achieve a successful marriage. Imam Zaid will go through seven secrets of marriage to help new and married couples strengthen their ties. Topics include Deepen Trust, Communicate, Fight Fair, Be Money Smart, Defuse Power Struggles, Make Love Not War, and Team Up.
