Dr. Nadeem Memon Appointed as Part-time Lecturer at OISE

TORONTO — Dr. Nadeem Memon (Director of Education, Razi) has been appointed as a part-time professor at University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). He will begin teaching his first class for teacher candidates on School and Society at the end of September 2011.

The course will give teacher candidates an introduction to how some of the broader issues in society affect the process of education. It will bring in educational perspectives from Ontario, the rest of Canada and other countries as a way of addressing some of the broad concerns in education.

Topics in the course include the Purpose of Schooling, Contemporary Goals of Education, Student Diversity and Difference, Democracy and Conflict, Family and Community, How Schools are Organized, and Teachers’ Identities.
