LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA — Razi’s Director of Curriculum Development, Ramzy Ajem, and Director of Education, Dr. Nadeem Memon, presented a number of workshops at the 1st annual ISNA West Coast Education Forum on January 13th and 14th 2012. The forum’s theme was “Educating our Children for a Brighter Future”.
The pair presented a 3 hour pre-conference workshop entitled “How an Islamic Pedagogy inspires student engagement and a strong sense of identity”. They also facilitated a workshop entitled, “What’s our objective in testing? Assessment and Evaluation in the Islamic Pedagogy”.
Dr. Memon and Mr. Ajem’s workshop was based off modules from the Islamic Teacher Education Program (ITEP). Collectively, the workshops were attended by over 85 Muslim educators from across the United States including school administrators.
Nevca Ozgur and ISNA Education were the main organizers of the entire forum. It was co-sponsored by MERIT (Muslim Educators’ Resource Information & Training Center) and ALDEEN Foundation.
About ITEP – The Islamic Teacher Education Program (ITEP) is an online professional development program designed specifically for full-time teachers in Islamic schools. The program was developed by Razi in collaboration with the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE).
